Apprenticeship Duration: 4 Years
Together with other professionals, automation technicians are responsible not only for the production of automated systems, but also for their commissioning, maintenance, repair, as well as planning, programming, and documentation.
When building electrical control cabinets, devices, machines, and automation systems, automation technicians are responsible for the electrical and pneumatic components. They assemble the automated systems according to production schematics, wire and pipe the individual components, program the system controls, and prepare the technical documentation.
During commissioning, they test the control software and carry out functional and quality checks. Automation technicians maintain and repair automated systems, including those used in building services engineering. They troubleshoot faults in automated equipment and implement modifications or expansions as needed.
